Copywriting: Finding Your Voice

  • January 2, 2021

Copywriting is technical, vulnerable, and persuasive all in one. When you’re getting started in your business, you have to be all things – the all-in-one.  From new business development to accounting, from office management to copywriting, you’re the one. You may be a gifted writer, that’s awesome! These tips will be a refresher for you. For the rest of us, give these tips some thought when you’re working to find your voice.

The most important tip for copywriting is – Don’t overthink it.

Start small with writing compelling headlines for posts or Google ads or a small two-paragraph welcome email.

Beginning with writing a short copy will help you become comfortable with writing for sales, but will also allow you to see and become familiar with what your brand sounds like.

Equally important is—don’t be shy to get a little personal.

We are 99.9% sure that your audience doesn’t want a robot (we can’t speak for the other 1%). Your audience is looking for the human being behind your brand. Give them personality! Break up some paragraphs, add in a clever pun, include whatever makes you…you.

You don’t have to be intimidated by that blank screen or blank page, and by no means do you have to be worried about having to write a three-page essay on your website, or about having to sound “dignified.”

Of course, we want you to sound credible, but don’t feel obligated to compromise your unique brand voice in order to do so.

The more your audience sees you, the most compelled they will be to stay and find out more.
